

We will return to the cemetery on February 25, 2006 to continue or efforts to preserve the cemetery. Our goals this year will be:
Continue cleaning of brush and debris
Continue efforts to locate and identify unmarked graves
Last year we had an incredible crew and we accomplished quite a bit, including fencing the area and cleaning a majority of the cemetery.
Tools we will need this year include
clippers
chainsaws
bush axes
rakes
gloves
There is a large crop of poison ivy in some areas. Please wear long pants and shirts, boots, and most importantly, gloves! The sap from poison ivy can be active any time of the year, and even years after the plant has died, so be careful. The poison ivy was out last year, too, but we did not hear of a single case from anyone.

General location of Mount Hew Hope cemetery
From I-65, Exit # 219 go west in Chilton County 42
Travel about 1.5 miles to Chilton County 44, turn right (Notice large "Barry's Furniture" sign).
Go past Chilton County Elementary School
Go 1.2 miles to Antique Mall on right.
Mr. Childress Farm is the brick house just past the Mall.
